Ungratefulness

open Bible

We are in the season of Thanksgiving—we are reminded to be grateful for the good and the bad. Sometimes it’s hard for us to see God’s good in a situation but that’s because we’re in the midst of it. We can’t see the situation from His perspective. We don’t know the good He is working out through these situations.

It’s times like these that people think God has abandoned us, that He doesn’t care, that He’s forgotten our name. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

We need to remember the times we are in. 2 Timothy 3 tells us, “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these.”

In these treacherous days we need to hold fast to the truth of the Word of God. To “continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of” according to 2 Timothy 3:15, because “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,” according to 2 Timothy 3:16.

Let us take this moment to stop and be grateful to God for His gifts to us. All of them.
