Exulting Over You

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

Have you ever thought of God exulting over you with love? He comes and lives inside of us—He overcomes all our enemies. He saves us through our troubles.

He wants to celebrate what He has done with us. Rest in His victorious joy. His love for us is greater than we can ever imagine.

Why not stop right now and give Him praise for everything He is, and everything He has done for us in His wisdom and mercy.

Father God, I praise and thank You
for every day of life You have given me.
I rejoice that you have saved me
and are fitting me for heaven.
I am filled with joy, knowing You are here,
in my presence
as I praise and enjoy You.
May Your praise forever be on my lips.

Jesus Heals the Brokenhearted

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.

This scripture not only refers to individuals. It also includes nations. Do you know any person or nation that is a wreck; is crushed or ruptured?

Some come to mind immediately. They need more than a band-aid and a couple of aspirin. They need a major overhaul. No amount of human effort is going to bring healing to these wounds.

Only Jesus, the All-powerful God, can restore, heal, bind up, these gaping injuries and sorrows. Only Jesus the Great Physician. He waiting for us to ask. Will you?

Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth,
come in and bind up these wounds.
Set the crooked straight.
Heal the unhealable.
These situations are beyond our help;
only You are our Healer, our Deliverer,
our Hope.
We stand to see You, Jesus,
bring the healing we so desire.

New Beginnings

Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

I never cease to be amazed what you can learn by going back to the original Hebrew language in the Old Testament or the Greek in the New Testament to find out new depths of meaning in the Bible. For online reference I use blueletterbible.com. You can type in a scripture reference and it will pop up. If you want to look at the original language, there is a tab at the top of the page marked “Strongs.” Little numbers now appear next to the words. Click the number. It will take you to the original meaning of that word.

When I looked up “blessed” from the scripture above, I found the word meant “to cause to kneel.”
How many people go through their whole lives and never kneel before the One who created them? How many charge ahead with their life plans and never seek the One who has written all their days in His book before they have lived even one of them (Psalm 139:16)?

Perhaps the first step we should take is to bow before Almighty God and ask for His blessing and guidance for His thoughts to fill ours and His words to fill our mouths before we begin.

Father God, I bow before You
my Creator, my Savior, my Friend.
I ask for Your guidance and empowerment
that I might accomplish all the things
You have written for me to do
in Your book before time began.

God's Prosperity

3 John 2

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.
At first glance, this scripture looks like a promise for prosperity—if your soul is prospering.

Let’s look deeper. The word “prosper” in Greek means “to lead by a direct and easy way; to be successful.” In other words not walking a crooked, rocky path.

“Good health” is obviously referring to good health—but there is a deeper meaning for a Christian. It means having an opinion free from any mixture of error. Hmmm. A Christian having error might equate to a crooked, rocky path, would it not?

Later in this short epistle, John mentions a man named Diotrephes, who unjustly accuses John of wicked words and who doesn’t receive other believers. For the brethren who want to receive these believers, Diotrephes puts them out of the church. Sounds like an arrogant man in error, doesn’t it? Definitely not a leader in good spiritual health, for sure.

To assure we’re not walking the same path, we need to study all of God’s word so our actions will reflect God’s truth to the world.

Father God, in Your mercy,
show us when our soul is not in good health.
Lord Jesus, please come and heal us
of any errors and of blindness
that doesn’t allow us to see You with clarity.
